Studio Vacek
"Concrete is, in many ways, an extraordinary material with a strong character. I create objects that offer a more intimate relationship between humans and this age-old material."
From his Prague workshop, Tomáš Vacek transforms concrete from industrial material into intimate objects, creating what he calls "wearable architecture"—pieces that bring the strength and character of buildings into everyday life.
The Craft
Studio Vacek specializes in transforming concrete from structural material into refined everyday objects. Tomáš develops proprietary concrete formulations that achieve remarkable smoothness and precision, far beyond traditional building applications. His signature approach creates pieces with clean geometries and subtle textures that highlight concrete's natural beauty while ensuring comfortable interaction with the human body. From delicate jewelry pieces to functional home objects, each creation undergoes careful hand-finishing to achieve surfaces smooth to the touch. His concrete jewelry collections feature precision-cast rings, earrings, and cufflinks that challenge perceptions of what concrete can be. The studio's planters and sculptural objects demonstrate concrete's versatility in larger scales, always maintaining the same attention to detail and surface quality that defines his smaller works.

The Maker
In 2011, Tomáš and his brother Jiří founded Studio Vacek in Prague after Tomáš completed his Industrial Design studies at Tomáš Baťa University in Zlín. Their shared vision centers on achieving clean, timeless design of the highest quality while applying expertise in ergonomics, ecology, and production technology. The studio has become internationally recognized, with Tomáš's designs displayed in renowned exhibitions across Paris, London, Milan, New York, Prague, and Berlin. This global recognition stems from his commitment to bridging architectural materials with intimate human experiences. Studio Vacek operates as a full-service design studio, offering everything from product design to photography and corporate branding, but concrete remains their signature medium for creating objects that last generations.

Materials & Care
Tomáš's concrete formulations begin as carefully measured mixtures but cure into remarkably durable, smooth-surfaced objects. Unlike rough architectural concrete, his pieces feature polished finishes that become more beautiful with age and gentle handling. Many pieces incorporate stainless steel elements for structural reinforcement and visual contrast, creating jewelry that's both delicate and surprisingly robust. The concrete naturally develops a subtle patina over time, deepening in character while maintaining its structural integrity. Jewelry pieces can be gently cleaned with mild soap and water, while larger objects benefit from occasional light polishing to maintain their smooth surfaces. Each piece represents a commitment to longevity—objects designed to improve with age rather than deteriorate.
