Meet the Maker

Jeff Sheldon: Minimal Design from Downingtown, PA

UGMONK

"I want to design and breathe life into products that last a lifetime and then some."

Designer by trade, entrepreneur by accident. Jeff crafts minimal products that blend form and function with timeless simplicity.

The Craft

UGMONK specializes in thoughtfully designed products that combine minimal aesthetics with exceptional functionality. Every piece—from apparel to desk accessories—undergoes meticulous development, often evolving for months or years before release. Jeff partners with skilled American craftspeople who share his commitment to quality: leather goods are hand-stitched in Kansas City using full-grain Horween leather, apparel is produced in one of the last remaining Los Angeles clothing factories, and productivity tools are crafted by family-run Pennsylvania woodworkers. This network of makers ensures each product meets UGMONK's exacting standards while preserving traditional techniques that machines cannot replicate.

The Maker

In 2008, fresh from design school and unable to find the minimal, well-made t-shirts he wanted, Jeff Sheldon created his own. What began as a side project in his parents' garage has evolved into a respected brand shipping to over 55 countries. Jeff's design philosophy centers on a simple filter: he only creates products he personally needs and would use. This authentic approach has guided UGMONK's organic evolution from apparel into leather goods, desk organization, and productivity tools. Despite growth opportunities, Jeff maintains a "design studio with products" mindset, personally designing every item and prioritizing quality over expansion. This thoughtful pace allows UGMONK to focus on perfecting each product rather than chasing trends.

Materials & Care

UGMONK's commitment to quality begins with exceptional materials. Each product features carefully selected components: full-grain Horween leather that develops rich character over time, premium cotton that maintains structure through countless washes, and solid maple that ages beautifully with use. Jeff's designs embrace this natural aging process—leather mousepads darken with handling, wooden desk accessories gain subtle patina, and fabrics soften perfectly with wear. Through Element Made, you gain access to these thoughtfully crafted goods and the stories behind them. Our partnership with UGMONK connects you to a network of American craftspeople, including four family-run Pennsylvania workshops that produce the Analog system. This collaboration celebrates the timeless value of objects made with intention and designed to grow more beautiful through years of faithful use.
